Anahid Grigor was born in Tehran Iran and migrated to Australia in 1985. She began her dancing career at the age of 9, having been influenced by her father who had a keen interest in Armenian dance and was a member of the Jambazian troupe in the 1950s.
Anahid has studied other genres of dance including Jazz, Classical and Folk, however her love has always been Armenian dance. Her teacher and mentor, Yelena Avedissian, was instrumental in motivating Anahid to explore all facets of Armenian dance.
In 2009, Anahid joined the ASDC as an instructor and choreographer, and took responsibility for the 7-9 Willoughby Group. Armenian folk music provides the inspiration for Anahid’s drive and energy…. “I feel Armenian music in my soul and heart and am driven to choreograph the movements depicting our culture and roots”. She adds “the ASDC provides an ideal forum for our children to grow and come together through dance”.
